Campaigners in Yorkshire show their support

With nine regional campaign officers and a network of volunteer campaign coordinators throughout England, there's always something going on.

This page is regularly updated to let you know how local people are tackling the issues that matter to blind and partially sighted people in their own communities, from saving services to improving transport. Our campaigns volunteers really are a dynamic force for positive change - check out eight local campaign successes of 2012.

Eye Pod in Merton

On 27 March 2013 the Eye Pod Sight Loss Simulator came to Merton Civic Centre where we engaged with councillors and members of the public giving them an insight into RNIB's work to prevent avoidable sight loss. We were pleased to be joined by the Chief Executive of Merton Vision at the event.

Mertonvision hold a bus campaign "swap with me" event

On 30 April the second of London's 'swap with me' events took place in Merton, thanks to the efforts of the local society Mertonvision.

Catching a bus should not be a sight test in Loughborough

A group of blind and partially sighted students from Loughborough College swapped places on 2 May with bus drivers to demonstrate the barriers they face when travelling on buses.

The bus campaign comes to Manchester

On 29 April, blind and partially sighted people from across Manchester took part in a Swap with me event as part of our bus campaign, held at the Arriva depot in Wythenshawe.

Bus drivers and passengers swap places in Worcester

Sight Concern Worcestershire helped organise a successful Swap with me event on 19 April at the First Bus depot as part of the 'Stop for me, speak to me' bus campaign.

'Vibrant' Birmingham volunteer wins award

Sharon Gibbs, Volunteer Campaign Coordinator in Birmingham, recently won a ' Special Achievement Award' for her contribution as a lay assessor to the Considerate Contractors Scheme in Birmingham.

Chris Thorley, Volunteer Campaign Coordination in North Staffordshire, has recently been appointed to the Stoke on Trent HealthWatch board.
