Traffic came to a halt in Bristol as around 500 disabled people, people with long term conditions, their family friends and members of the public marched through Bristol. Blind and partially sighted people travelled to Bristol from as far Plymouth, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire to send a strong and clear message to the government stop cutting benefits and support essential to disabled peoples lives.
The Hardest Hit march and rally was attended by local MPs Kerry McCarthy and Dawn Primarolo and local labour councillors who pledged their support to the Hardest Hit Campaign.
Speakers included Roger Berry, the former MP for Kingswood who said the cuts were "unacceptable".
Many disabled people who couldn't be there in person also sent messages of support that were carried by other protesters at the event.
The rally heard some inspirational speeches from disabled people who are directly being impacted upon by local cuts to services, the assessment for Employment Support Allowance and are in fear of changes of to DLA.
