On 26 October 2012, campaigners gathered in Birmingham City Council House to pose questions to a panel of speakers regarding cuts to disability benefits and services.
The panel consisted of Jack Dromey, MP for Birmingham Erdington, Ian Ward, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council and Martin Gallagher, Chair of Midland Mencap.
The event was chaired by Rt. Rev. David Urquhart, Bishop of Birmingham. The panel saw moving video accounts from those potentially affected by the changes and heard from members of the audience about their own personal situations and concerns.
Representatives of the MND Association also presented Jack Dromey with a giant signed letter from their members.
Positive commitments were made by members of the panel to address the issues that were raised by attendees and action continued after the event, with many campaigners contacting their MPs to ask them to read the Tipping Point report produced by the Hardest Hit Coalition.
