Eye Pod in Rotherham

On Wednesday 31 October RNIB's Eye Pod sight loss simulator came to Rotherham.

After entering the Pod visitors are able to view the world from the perspective of someone living with one of the four most common eye conditions, Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy and Cataracts.

A range of influential figures from Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council visited the Pod including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Leader of the Council, Deputy Leader of the Council and the Chair of the Health and Well Being Board.

Councillors were given advice and information on how to improve provision and planning for local services for blind and partially sighted people. They also learnt about restrictions that are being placed on cataract treatments in the region.
