Introduction from Tracy Dearing

My name is Tracy Dearing and I am thrilled to be taking up the position of Regional Campaigns Coordinator for Yorkshire and Humber. I am originally from Hull, where I have been an active disability campaigner for the last 10 years.

I have been involved with coordinating and participating in both local and national campaigns. These have encompassed themes such as; education, employment, welfare, health and transport.

Taking part in these campaigns has allowed me to explore and raise awareness around specific issues, for example physical environments and access to services, information and communication, the welfare state and benefit system.

In addition to campaigning and lobbying I have developed a keen interest in disability studies and have recently completed a Master's Degree in diversity, culture and identify and chose to specialise in gender and disability.

I am very much looking forward to working with blind and partially sighted people across the region; making society inclusive, improving services and promoting independence.
