The Rotherham Visually Impaired Group (RVIG) are a recently constituted action group determined to make a difference for blind and partially sighted people.
Following modernisation to the front of Rotherham hospital, blind and partially sighted people encountered several access issues. RVIG member, Mrs Joan Davis, a stroke survivor with sight loss, worked with RNIB's regional campaigns officer to systematically catalogue access issues encountered during her routine visits to the blood clinic.
The strategy paid off when the Equality and Diversity Officer agreed a series of improvements, and importantly, has provided RVIG with an action plan to monitor progress against.
