Blue Badge Reform Programme: A Consultation Document

RNIB has submitted its views on the Department for Transport's proposals on reforming the Blue Badge scheme, in particular enforcement and eligibility for the scheme. We cautioned the Government against withdrawing badges in certain circumstances. We also explained that the hidden nature of certain disabilities means it's especially important enforcement officers equip themselves with all the facts before confiscating badges. We have called for disability awareness training of enforcement officers. We also focused on assessments for Blue Badges, pointing out that an individual registering with their local authority as blind should routinely be considered eligible.
