How to enter

The "Blind Bit of Difference" challenge competition is open to all students from University College London and the London Business School. You can enter as a team (maximum of four). Each team will be paired up with a blind or partially sighted person to help you understand the challenges of living with sight loss. Enter today!

How to enter

Download and complete our competition entry pack and be sure to send it back to us by the 14 December 2012. It's as simple as that!

Once you've complete the pack return it to George Paterson, the competition administrator at george.paterson@rnib.org.uk. Remember, the deadline for entries is 14 December 2012.

What will the judges be looking for?

Judges will be asked to evaluate ideas considering the following:

  • Creation of employment opportunities for blind and partially sighted people, in order to earn an income to maintain an independent and sustainable life style.
  • Entrants must be staff and/or students from University College London and/or the London Business School studying in the United Kingdom.
  • Entrants to optimise accessibility for blind and partially sighted people. Note; Students will be assisted to develop an understanding of Accessibility.
  • Students will be judged on their production of a business model and/or tool design that creates employment for blind or partially sighted people that enables them to generate an income.
  • Entrants will be required to provide evidence of a market demand and identify feasibilities of opportunities.
  • Potential to attract investment opportunities and start up finance.
  • Entrants will be required to Identify and demonstrate a unique selling proposition and a business model.
  • Students should estimate the scalability of the project in terms of potential numbers of people that can be employed.
  • The individual / team has relevant skills / experience and shows commitment to take this forward.
  • The individual / team has a clear plan for deliverables and milestones.
  • The business idea is likely to be financially sustainable.

Prize

The winners of the challenge will have the opportunity to get a HEFCE UnLtd Social Enterprise Award (up to £2,000) subject to meeting the programme's eligibility criteria. They will also receive a certificate from RNIB.
