Defending DLA's mobility component

In the Comprehensive Spending Review it was announced that the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance will be removed from disabled people living in residential accommodation (care homes and schools) whose places are funded by local authorities. The change is scheduled for October 2012 and will impact on nearly 60,000 people. It will not apply to people who fund their own care.

Act now to join the fight

Disability organisations have joined together to fight this unfair and unjustified cut that will save £150 million a year, but will trap disabled people in residential care centres if they lose the money to get out and about, to visit friends and family and take part in everyday life, using taxis and minicabs.

Leonard Cheshire Disability have launched an action against the cut, and are asking campaigners to email their MPs.

Act now and use the template letter on the Leonard Cheshire website.
