Glaucoma awareness campaign

Our report 'Don't blame the patient' states that more than 200,000 people in the UK have needlessly lost their sight to glaucoma.

Four out of five people have heard of glaucoma but that their understanding is limited, especially about the groups of people who are at higher risk of developing the condition.

"Don't stop the drops" is our message to people diagnosed with glaucoma. Don't become one of the thousands of people needlessly losing their sight because they are not continuing with their treatment.

Read our Glaucoma campaign reports for more on this issue.

As part of the Glaucoma Awareness Campaign a 13-city exhibition tour was held in 2005 visiting 13 cities around the UK.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions in which the optic nerve is damaged due to changes in eye pressure. Damage to sight can usually be minimised by early diagnosis and careful regular observation and treatment.
