Go the distance - run the London Marathon for RNIB!

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the world's best sporting events, as well as one of life's great challenges, and we want to help you to be a part of it. Join Team RNIB and help blind and partially sighted people across the UK.

Sunday 17 April 2011

The Virgin London Marathon takes place on Sunday 17 April 2011. Whether you want to run, cheer or volunteer, we'd love to hear from you. This world-renowned 26 mile race fills up fast. What are you waiting for? Do something inspirational and take the first step today.

How to register to run for RNIB

As we only have a limited number of guaranteed entry places, your application will be subject to a selection process and we will contact you by email or phone to let you know if you have been successful. If your application is successful, we will ask you to pay a registration fee of £100 and raise a minimum of £1500 in sponsorship. If your application is not immediately successful, we will place you on our reserve list.

Already have a place?

If you have secured a place through the race organisers' ballot, we'd love you to join Team RNIB. You can register to run for us as an own place runner online.

You will have access to all the same benefits as our guaranteed entry runners but you will not have a sponsorship target. We only have a limited amount of guaranteed places available, so we really appreciate any sponsorship money raised by people with their own places.

As a member of Team RNIB you will receive

  • Great support from the moment you register right up until race day
  • A welcome pack filled with fundraising tips and expert training and nutrition advice
  • A free RNIB running vest with your name on it
  • Regular e-news
  • Opportunity to join the RNIB online community and to meet other runners taking part
  • Cheering points along the route
  • A post race reception with free refreshments, food and massages.

Want to volunteer at the race?

We've got some great opportunities to get involved in the action and atmosphere without running the race. Why not volunteer to be a Team RNIB Marathon Assistant on the day itself?

What would you lose from your life if you lost your sight?

When you lose your sight you lose more than your ability to see.

Every day, almost 100 people in the UK will start to lose their sight. RNIB gives people who have lost their sight vital support to help them find their lives again. Right now RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need our help most. Join Team RNIB and help us reach them all.

Not for you?
