Climb Mount Kilimanjaro for RNIB

  • 17-27 March 2012
  • 20-30 September 2012
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a challenge to say the least and is one of the mountains almost every trekker and mountaineer in the world wants to conquer. Kilimanjaro is approximately 24 miles wide and 49 miles long, and is more ecosystem than mountain! The terrain for this challenge is extremely varied; beginning in dense forests filled with fauna and animals people can only dream of witnessing. You will then go through more rugged and lunar like terrain, culminating in a trek along the natural phenomenon of 20m deep glaciers on the Equator in Africa!
We are one of the few Challenge Teams who follow the Marangu Route; this route has the highest success rate for reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as it includes an extra acclimatisation day.

Join RNIB on this incredible challenge of conquering the World's highest freestanding mountain! Trekking up to 5895 metres (19,342 feet) you will be standing head and shoulders above the clouds! Experience the euphoria of standing on top of the world, whilst raising funds to help to make a difference to the two million people in the UK with sight loss.

"At Heathrow I was on my own among more than 30 strangers and I returned with 38 new friends and an appreciation for Africa." - Brendan Murphy, 51, Dorset

Why fundraise for RNIB?

Every day 100 people in the UK start losing their sight. RNIB gives people who have lost their sight vital support to help them find their lives again. Right now RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need our help the most. Join Team RNIB and help us reach them all.
