What are Talking Books?

Talking books provide so much pleasure

Talking Books are specially designed to feel like any other book; you can even flick back and forwards through the story, skip chapters and 'bookmark' to keep your place. And they're often recorded by their authors, people like J.K.Rowling and Roald Dahl.

The problem is 96 per cent of books published don't make it into formats that people with sight problems can read.

Over 120,000 books are published every year, yet each year RNIB Talking Books can only record 420 new titles. This is mainly due to the fact that it can cost up to £2,500 to record a single title. So, while all the other children are unwrapping their books this Christmas, children with sight loss like Amber may have to do without.

Donate to our Christmas appeal

Please donate online now to our Christmas appeal and ensure more children like Amber will get what they asked for this Christmas.

Or you can donate by calling 0845 345 0054 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

Amber might have to live with partial sight, but she doesn't have to live without the magic of books as well.

Thank you for your support and have a happy Christmas.
