Corporate case study - Simmons and Simmons

Charity of the Year

RNIB was chosen as 'Charity of the Year 2007/08' by the London office of Simmons and Simmons international law firm. With book and cake sales, a client quiz, a 'slave' auction, a wine-tasting evening and many more imaginative events, members of the firm raised a total of more than £21,000 to help blind and partially sighted people.

"We are naturally delighted to have raised so much money for RNIB throughout the year. It is great to see so many members of our staff giving so generously of their time, effort and money for such a good cause."
Jonathan Kelly, partner and head of the office's charity committee.

More than £21,000 raised for RNIB

On 31 March, a cheque was presented on behalf of the office by Simmons and Simmons senior partner David Dickinson, along with lead fundraisers: financial litigation partner Jonathan Kelly; pro bono coordinator Belinda Lodge; and members of the London charity committee.

"I am always very impressed by the energy and commitment of our office members in their fundraising and this year has been no exception. The fundraising activities have been fun and many people have worked hard to raise as much money as possible. On behalf of the office, I hope the amount raised goes some way towards improving the lives of the blind and visually impaired."
David Dickinson, Simmons and Simmons senior partner.

Running Florence Marathon for RNIB

Simmons and Simmons lawyer Richard Dyton has run the Florence Marathon for the first time to raise money for RNIB. Richard covered his costs including entry and travel to Florence to make sure that all the money he raised went directly RNIB.

Richard finished with a time of 3 hours 17 minutes and raised over £600 for RNIB.

"I would like to thank all the staff who very generously sponsored me - their support made the difference and kept me going in the last few miles."
Richard Dyton, lawyer and Team RNIB runner.

Every day almost 100 people in the UK will start to lose their sight. Right now RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need our help most. Choose RNIB as your Charity of the Year and help us reach them all.
