Every day 100 people, like Alan, start to lose their sight. He's chosen to leave a gift to RNIB in his Will and tells us why:
"RNIB were there to help me find a new way in life"
Listen to Alan in his own words
"I lost my sight three years ago due to diabetic retinopathy and when I had to give up work RNIB were there to help me find a new way in life.
They gave me emotional support, encouragement and training and something to look forward to every day.
They let me manage my life on my own terms and do what I wanted to do whilst providing me with the vital support I needed to make this possible.
I attended a reception at Ashton Court Mansion last year and had such a good and interesting day. From my arrival at the venue to my getting the taxi back home I felt the time was spent so well, learning about all the services and support RNIB provide.
I have chosen to give RNIB a legacy because I want to help them to continue providing the services and support that got me back on my feet to help others in the future."
Alan Brown
Legacies are vital in supporting us in the work that we do now and in years to come. They help us to help future generations of people who are living with sight loss.
Join us at a supporter reception
If you would like to find out more about RNIB and the work we do for people like Alan, why not attend a supporter reception?
RNIB holds a number of receptions each year. In 2010 we're travelling from Inverness to Orpington, and from Derry to Ipswich.
We look forward to seeing you.
