On Monday 5 July a team of 84 intrepid walkers from British Gas set off to do a relay walk from John O' Groats to Land's End. Taking in their call centres in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, Staines and Southampton along the way, the walk will finish on Friday 17 September.
Raising money for RNIB Rushton's garden
The team are hoping to raise £15,000 which will fund a garden for
Rushton School and Children's Home, which is currently undergoing a large scale £30 million redevelopment.
RNIB Rushton currently provides care for 19 children. Once the main phase of transformation is complete in 2011, it will be able to provide up to 60 residential places and an additional 10 day places.
The garden will provide a stimulating space for children with complex needs to learn, play and develop. When British Gas visited RNIB Rushton, they were surprised at how little space the children currently had but saw how much they enjoyed using even this small area.
