Too many blind and partially sighted people are left to struggle alone without information, advice and support when they first lose their sight. Hundreds of people lose their sight every week: could you cope on your own?
We need you to write to the Care Quality Commission to demand a review of health and care services to help end this injustice.
Getting the right support should not be left to chance
We need you to write to the Care Quality Commission by Tuesday 27 April 2010 to demand a special review to investigate the lack of support available to people who lose their sight.
The Care Quality Commission is England's independent regulator of health and social care services. Its aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone. Each year they open up a consultation asking people to tell them their priorities for local health and social services.
Disappointingly the Commission has no plans to review the gaps in care and support for blind and partially sighted people.
We want the review to recommend changes so that people with sight loss no longer get neglected.
What we want you to do
Please take a few minutes of your time to write to the Care Quality Commission to demand a review of health and social care services. In order to make a real impact, we need at least 700 people to join our campaign.
We've created a template letter, which you can either post in, email or cut and paste from to complete an online form. If you are able to personalise your letter, for example sharing your own experiences or those of family and friends, please do so.
You can choose one of three options to contact the Care Quality Commission:
Please remember that the deadline is Tuesday 27 April 2010.
Thank you for your time - together we can make a real difference.
