We want to wish the very best of luck to the 128 runners who will be running the Virgin London Marathon as part of Team RNIB on Sunday 17 April.
RNIB needs you
You can come and support Team RNIB on race day! We are aiming to have the loudest cheering points on race day, and we need your help to keep our runners going.
The RNIB cheering points will be at mile 13 and mile 22. We are also holding a reception for all runners at The Captain's Cabin in Piccadilly.
For more information about joining an RNIB cheering point or coming to our post race reception, please contact events@rnib.org.uk or call us on 0845 345 0054.
Paul's story
Each member of our team has worked so hard to prepare for Sunday. Paul Martin is one of the incredible people who is helping us raise vital funds to support blind and partially sighted people.
Last year Paul ran as a guide for Gary O'Connor, a partially sighted runner who has a hereditary retinal eye disease (Choroideremia or CHM). Together, Paul and Gary ran several events for RNIB and raised over £6,500. This year, Paul has set himself another amazing challenge for RNIB - he will be running 5 marathons this year, and aims to raise £10,000!
Paul has already fundraised over £3000 and is due to begin his 5 marathon challenge with the Virgin London Marathon this weekend.
Feel inspired?
Hopefully you will come and support our runners this year. But maybe next year you would like to run it rather than being on the sidelines. Register your interest for the Virgin London Marathon 2012.
Not ready to take on a full marathon yet? Why not try the Asics British 10km 2011? Set in London, much of the course will be the same as the route used for the men's and women's Olympic marathon courses in 2012. This is a great opportunity to live the Olympic dream but over a shorter distance.
