Running a marathon is a phenomenal event which can be life-changing. Crossing the finish line is a truly remarkable achievement.
Going through the physical and mental exhaustion of the 26.2 mile race is nothing short of amazing and every year we have incredible people who run the marathon to raise money to help our work.
This year we have a truly incredible fundraiser in Paul Martin, who has signed up to take part in not one, but five marathons to fundraise for RNIB.
Paul's story
Paul has pledged to fundraise over £10,000 this year running marathons for us - a challenge that will take in five countries and two continents
"To wake up in a dark room where the light will simply never work or switch on would be one of my greatest fears.
RNIB does a fantastic job in helping blind people - and their families and friends - to cope and adjust, building confidence to function and grow again."
Last year with his friend Gary O'Connor, Paul raised over £6,500 for RNIB. Paul's close pal and colleague Gary has a hereditary retinal eye disease and will eventually lose his sight.
