Amateur radio challenge for charity

Sponsor Terry in the 1 million point challenge.

RNIB Trustee Terry Robinson is raising money for charity as he takes part in the CQ Worldwide amateur radio contest 2009. You can sponsor Terry's attempt to break last year's score by visiting his JustGiving page.

What is the challenge?

On 28 and 29 November 2009, the CQ Worldwide CW amateur radio contest takes place. The aim of the contest is to contact as many radio stations as possible using a shortwave system based on Morse Code. This international language makes it easy to communicate with people across the world.

Terry's target

From his home in Glasgow, Terry aims to improve on his score from last year, where he made an impressive 2,000 radio contacts during the event. Each contact Terry makes earns him points. Terry hopes to win an incredible one million points this year! Find out more about the points system on his JustGiving page.

Points mean prizes

• A sponsorship of over £10 wins you an invitation to guess Terry's final score. The closest guess wins a small prize donated by Terry himself.

• Take up the million point challenge: pledge to increase your donation if Terry manages to break the million point barrier on the day.

Sponsor Terry in his amateur radio challenge today by going to his JustGiving page. If you would like to help raise vital funds for RNIB yourself, take a look at our quick fundraising ideas to get you started.
