A walking challenge in aid of RNIB

Paul Hodgkinson

Paul Hodgkinson has set himself the challenge of walking to all 92 football league stadiums with half the proceeds he raises going to RNIB. Commencing on 30 April 2012, Paul's challenge 'Walking We Are United' covers 2,250 miles in just 121 days!

About Paul

Paul Hodgkinson was born in Wakefield. A happy childhood was interrupted when Paul turned 13 years-old and an accident resulted in his left eye being removed. Over time, the sight in Paul's right eye has also deteriorated and eventually it will fade forever.

Before he loses his sight completely Paul wants to do something to help others in his situation and has set himself the challenge of walking across the UK.

The final week of the challenge

Paul has entered into the final week of his walking challenge. He is on schedule to arrive at Liverpool's Anfield ground on Monday 17 September, this will be football club number 92.

"Paul's strength and determination has never left him and even through the battle of the atrocious weather of this 'summer'. Paul has steadfastly refused to give up."
Jacquie McGuire, Community Fundraising Executive.

The journey facts

  • Paul has walked approximately 2375 miles
  • He is onto his fourth pair of walking boots
  • Paul has lost four stone and nine toe-nails!
  • When he finishes he will have been walking continuously for 141 days

Thank you Paul and very well done!
