Why is July a good time to write your Will?

Protect your family by writing a will

What do Helen Mirren and Nelson Mandela have in common? They were both born in July. In fact, according to the Office for National Statistics, July is the most popular month for births. So congratulations may be on their way for many of you!

The birth of your child or grandchild is a life changing experience, along with buying property, getting married or divorced and retiring.

Life never stands still. An important consideration at these key moments is security for the future. An essential task when circumstances change is to make a Will or review an existing one.

Protecting your loved ones

Shockingly one in three people in the UK die without a Will, potentially leaving their family and friends nothing but acrimony, confusion and costly legal battles. Getting help writing your Will is the only way to protect the people you care about and ensure your wishes will be followed after you die.

Once loved ones are taken care of, a gift to RNIB could make an incredible difference to thousands of lives. A third of our work supporting blind and partially sighted people is only possible because of legacy gifts.

Not just for the rich and famous

74 per cent of the UK population support charities but only 7 per cent leave a charitable gift in their Will, often simply because they haven't thought of it or they think it's something only the rich and famous do. Anyone can make a legacy gift, of any size, it's just a way to continue your support for a cause you care about. We hope that all our supporters will consider making a legacy gift to RNIB.
