Printer cartridge, mobile phone and iPod recycling

Recycle your unwanted MP3 for RNIB

About the scheme

RNIB works in partnership with The Recycling Appeal to provide you with a way to recycle your cartridges, mobile phones, PDAs and MP3 players.

Since August 2005, all companies have to comply with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive and reuse, recycle and safely dispose of all their electrical and electronic waste. This means that every company mobile phone has to be recycled.

Get involved

Companies, schools and colleges

Companies, schools, colleges and other groups who have a large number of cartridges or mobile phones to recycle will receive a collection box (or boxes). This box will be delivered to you and collected when full free of charge. We can also arrange to send collection boxes to other departments in your organisation.

Recycling at home or in small organisations

If you do not have a large number of items to recycle, freepost bags can be sent to you instead of a box. These freepost bags are only suitable for small quantities and are ideal for home users.

Box collections

When your collection box is full all you have to do is ring the number on the side or complete the online form. Collections will usually be made within 48 hours of receipt of your request. Please note that all cartridges, phones and iPods should be packed in their original boxes or a suitable alternative so that they don't get damaged.

All you have to do is call freephone 08451 30 20 10 or fill in our recycling registration form.

Special note

Pack your items carefully - this ensures we get the best value when recycling.

Please send any unwanted chargers or phone accessories with your mobile phones, as this will help us to raise extra money.

What we can't recycle

Please don't include toner bottles, ribbon cartridges and Epson inkjet cartridges as we are unable to recycle these. If we receive these in large volumes we may have to charge you for their safe disposal.

How RNIB benefits

Over the last seven years, an amazing £385,000 has been raised for RNIB from ink cartridge and mobile phone recycling.

Every day 100 people in the UK start losing their sight. Right now RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need our help most. Recycle stamps and help us reach them all.
