Many of our supporters want to leave us a legacy to enable us to carry on our vital work into the future, but find making a Will an intimidating task. The RNIB Wills and Legacy Advisory Service has been developed to help and guide supporters through the process of planning and making a Will.
Local RNIB Wills and Legacy Advisors
We have five regional advisors covering the whole of the UK who are happy to visit people in their homes to offer free, confidential and impartial advice on making a Will or amending an existing Will. Advisors can also update interested people about what RNIB is doing in their region and highlight other services that might be appropriate for them.
Many of our supporters value the visits as a chance to chat through what can be a daunting process in a straightforward, friendly way. They give helpful advice, ensuring you have all the information you need to take to your solicitor and can also source solicitors who won't cost the earth.
Supporter receptions
Susan Baxter of Bedford arranged for a visit from her RNIB Legacy Advisor after attending one of our supporter receptions:
"The legacy advisor visited me at home and we chatted over coffee and snacks about what I wanted to include in my Will. She went through everything - what I wanted to leave to my son, my three grand children, my brother and the different legacies I wanted to include. Even finding out about green burial sites for me after I told her I would like a green burial. She typed it up in the way it had to be presented and all I had to do then was take that to my solicitor for him to make it a legal document."
