In the biggest single-issue campaign in the voluntary sector, over 150 charities have joined forces for
Remember a Charity, to raise awareness of the importance of Legacy giving.
Remember a Charity Week
Legacies are vital to the continuation of our work. A third of our work supporting blind and partially sighted people is only possible thanks to Legacy gifts. That's why we're taking part in Remember a Charity Week from 12-18 September to let people know about this way to support RNIB's work.
During Remember a Charity Week we'd really appreciate it if you would give some thought to leaving a gift to RNIB in your Will. By supporting us in this way you will help make sure we can be there for blind and partially sighted people for many years to come.
Find out what the fantastic Rocky Taylor will be up to during the week to help promote the campaign. Hear first hand from our loyal supporter and volunteer Alan Brown about what a difference RNIB has made to him.
Why legacies are so important
74 per cent of the UK population supports charities but currently only 7 per cent leave a Legacy gift. This is partly down to the common misconception that only the rich or famous leave money to charities. This couldn't be further from the truth. The reality is that without gifts left in Wills, by people like you, many charities - including RNIB would struggle to exist.
If, through this campaign, we can increase the number of people in the UK who make a Legacy gift to charity by just 4 per cent we could generate a further £1 billion every year for good causes, that's the equivalent of a further 10 Comic Relief appeals every year.
We can all make a contribution that will make a difference just by remembering our favourite charity when writing a Will.
