Sky Talker plugs into your Sky set top box, and provides speech access to programme and channel information, as well as Sky+ play/pause functionality. It is currently priced at £60.

Dear All,
I believe that I was the very first person to order the Sky Talker when it came out in October 2010and as a blind person, I have found it very useful. The set-up was very easy and the box itself is also very easy to adjust.
However, I am very dissapointed with the quality of the voices used, especially now we have very high quality text to speech voices, as used in technology, used by blind people e.g. JAWS screen reader, Bones Milestone 312 etc. Further, I keep getting telephone calls from Sky, trying to get me to move-up to the HD version of their technology, which I would like to do, due to the extra Anytime services and wifi services for Anytime plus but there is still not an HD version of the Sky Talker, despite assurance that it would be available last July.

Regards,

Steve.

Linda - I have not heard of a similar device form Virgin Media so I don't think it exists. However it's best to call Virgin Media and check with them to be absolutely sure.

Can you get anything similar for a Virgin box?

Thanks for the heads up on this. This could be a great boon to many and I wasn't aware of it until reading your review

Interesting sounding gadget and useful review - thanks. I was looking for something like this and wireless head phones. It appears it's between this and the Goodmans freeview box by the look of it.
