Sky+ is a set top box that allows you to watch digital television with an enhanced functionality to record and play back television programmes at your own convenience. The system allows you to record more than one programme at once, and watch previously recorded programmes whilst the system is recording. You can also pause live or recorded TV, fast-forward or rewind, and record programmes at the touch of a button.

I recently bought a Sky Player for my mother who has very bad eyesight. I thought Sky talker would be ideal.
Unfortunately it was not. It has a choice of around 9 voices, but all are spoken in a Stephen Hawking type computer voice, which is very hard to understand. Also when Sky have any abbreviations on screen the Sky cannopt deal with that successfully.
One other point is that it does not tell you when you get to maximum volume, so you end up keep pressing it not knowing if you are at the maximum. I sent the Sky Talker back with this explanation, and really hope there will be an improvement soon. The instructions are excellent but unfortunately not the actual Sky player.

I am a Sky user for under 2 years and have notice this Saturday that I now can use the audio description setting. I don't really need to use it.....at least for now but if I do in the future,at least I can listen to my favourite programmes but I still need to mute it when the adverts come on, hee hee.
