Hello all, my first post.
I suffered from my first ever iritis flare just over 4 years ago now. I was prescribed predisonlone drops for around 6 months by my local Ophthalmologist. There now seems to be no inflammation left within my eye present, however there is pigment left on my inner lens, probably caused by the initial iritis flare.
I'm now left with extreme photophobia within my right eye. I have to wear cat 4 wrap around sunglasses both indoors & out. Finding light painful, especially sunlight. Work very challenging.
I have now seen over 4 Ophthalmologists, whom now seem to have no answers.
Does anyone know if pigment on my inner lens could cause photophobia? Anyone else have similar problems?
I'm also a long term sufferer of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Kathryn,
Cat, meaning category. 4 meaning level of tint. Usually from 1 -5, 1 being the lightest possible tint. Wraparound sunglasses help to block most of the light from entering your eyes. Useful in light conditions

There may not be an underlying cause to the photophobia.

Kathryn,
I'm sorry to hear your struggling at the moment with photophobia.
Have you tried wearing wrap around sunglasses? I have to use cat 4's indoors & out. Would not be able to manage without them. Otherwise I'd suffer from alot pain for days after a few minutes of exposure or bright indoor lighting or the sun.
I also suffer from dry eyes too, have my tear ducts plugged & am use additive free artificial tears.
