My 90 year old grandmother would like some audio books, of the type such as Mills and Boon, gentle, easy romances. She won't even consider an mp3 player etc, so I wanted to get her some on audio CD. Easy I thought, but alas, I have had no luck!
Can anyone help? She cant use a library as cant get to the post box to return them, so I thought I'd just buy her a bundle.
Thanks
Babs

Contact your local library, they usually have a home visiting service where a member of staff visits your home every 3 to 4 weeks with a selection of books, taking back books left from the previous visit.
Do you also know about Playaway, an all in one device with simple stop start and volume buttons? Many local libraries now stock them to use within the Home Library Service. Or you can buy them.

Hope it helps,

Hello Babs,
Amazon has lots of used audiobooks, e.g. Books > Fiction > Audiobooks > Books on CD > Romance, then sort by: Price: Low to High. That has over 3000 results. Of course they won't all be suitable for your grandmother! You will need to search through them.
Also try Oxfam.org.uk. Click on Shop Online > Books > Audio books. They have about 500 secondhand audio books at the moment.
Hope this helps

Have you tried searching ebay with nothing in the search subject but with the category "Books, Comics & Magazines"? You can subdivide this using the left-hand sidebar into Format>Audiobooks>CD and Genre>Romance? I found 100-odd results costing £5-£10 each. Some were MP3 CDs (although I didn't choose that option) but I believe that most ordinary CD players will now play them.
