Ready to help
Our Technology Support Squad is a team of hundreds of volunteers throughout the UK ready to help by phone or with a home visit. We're on hand so you can:

understand your instruction manual

get the most out of your television including setting up freeview, satellite or cable equipment, installing a DVD player and discovering audio description

tune in to your digital radio

stay connected with family and friends with your landline or mobile phone

get to grips with a new computer or laptop including investigating any problems with software such as Microsoft Office and JAWS or hardware like printers and monitors

open up a world of information through connecting to the internet and social networking

keep up to date with the latest news, gossip or entertainment by finding out if your favourite newspaper or magazine is available from National Talking Newspapers and Magazines

access an audio library at home with a demonstration on using your DAISY Talking Book player and how to order books from our National Library Service.

Patricia's story
Since beginning to lose her sight Patricia has embraced technology as a way of helping to make life easier and retain her independence.
Thanks to Jeff, one of our Technology Support Squad volunteers, Patricia now has the confidence she needs to get the most from technology.
"An ordinary mobile phone wasn't any good for me anymore as I couldn't use the scrolling buttons or read text messages.
"Jeff from the RNIB Technology Support Squad came to visit me at home. He very patiently helped me to find the right phone for me. Jeff was excellent. He telephoned me a few weeks after the visit to see how I was getting along.
"The service is amazing.
"Jeff came to my home again to help me with a product that brings up printed documents on my television screen when I press a special mouse on the page. He set everything up and helped me find the size and colour contrast right for me. He's been wonderful.
"I really can't thank RNIB enough."
