This role does not require a CRB check.
What will I be doing?
-
Guiding blind and partially sighted participants around the venue, helping them to find seating and providing directions

Assisting participants into cars and taxis and, at times, meeting attendees at the railway station or accompanying them there

Registering attendees

Giving guide dogs walks while participants are in forum sessions

Assisting with providing lunch and refreshments - your tea-making skills: a definite bonus!

Possibly Handling the roving microphone in some sessions; note-taking in others

Anticipating and providing general assistance to participants, as needed.

When will I be needed?
Between 3 and 8 days per year
Location
This role is available across England, with various locations across your region.
A willingness to travel is essential to this role.

Understanding Sight Loss Pack

Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training

Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/co-ordinator

Event induction on the day, including a full briefing, a working agenda for the day and a tour of the venue
