Driver - Mobile Sight Loss Information Service

We are looking for drivers with a C1 Category on their licence to join our friendly Mobile Sight Loss Information Service team.
Volunteers are required to drive our Mobile Sight Loss Resource Vehicle to locations such as town centres, libraries, health centres, hospitals and schools to reach blind and partially sighted people who often feel isolated when they do not have access to information that can improve their lives.
The Mobile Sight Loss Resource Vehicle enables visitors to access advice and try out some of the latest technology and gadgets to improve daily life for blind and partially sighted people.

A C1 Driving Licence Classification is essential for this role

This role does not require a DBS Check

What will I be doing?

  • Ensuring the mobile unit arrives on time, where it's needed

  • Helping the team get ready for the day
  • Helping people get on board safely and comfortably
  • Helping to demonstrate equipment to people with sight loss
  • Basic vehicle safety and maintenance checks

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Good driving skills and a C1 Driving licence

  • Good communication skills and ability to put people at their ease
  • Enthusiasm and reliability

When will I be needed?

Weekdays, approximately 2 or 3 days per month
