Campaign Co-ordinators will act as RNIB's main local contact for individuals and groups wanting to become involved in campaigning for better services or opportunities for blind or partially sighted people in their area.

Campaign Co-ordinators will help to organise RNIB's campaigns at a local level, and will be involved in lobbying MPs, NHS trusts, local authorities etc. They will also be supported to identify, plan and take action on local campaigning issues, and in turn support others wishing to do so.

Campaign Co-ordinators will work closely with the RNIB regional campaigns officer and other relevant groups such as local societies of and for blind people.

Campaign Co-ordinators will also be supported to take on roles within their local communities such as NHS trust boards and Local Involvement Networks where they wish to do so and where appropriate opportunities can be identified.

As this role may involve working unsupervised with vulnerable people, an Enhanced CRB check is required.

What will I be doing?

Working closely with the RNIB regional campaigns officer and relevant local organisations of and for blind or partially sighted people, campaigns co-ordinators will:

  • Act as local contact for RNIB campaign supporters and groups with an interest in campaigning
  • Call or email new campaigns supporters to welcome them
  • Keep local campaigns supporters and relevant groups informed of campaigning activities and support their involvement
  • Organise campaign events related to RNIB's campaigns
  • Meet with local decision makers and influencers such as MPs, councillors etc, in relation to agreed national and local issues.
  • Identify, plan and take action on local campaigning issues, and feed information on these back to RNIB
  • From time to time, work one-to-one with local blind and partially sighted individuals: supporting them, accompanying them to meetings and events and discussing local change issues.

What qualities do I need?

  • Good at meeting new people face to face
  • Good at verbal or written communication
  • Experience at organising events

When will I be needed?

Flexible to suit volunteer. On average, we would like a commitment of a minimum 6 hours per week.
This to include attendance at least 4 regional events or meetings per year (some of these may be by teleconference)
In addition, attend at least 3 training events per year (some of these may be by teleconference).

Home based. We are seeking to recruit people at locations across England
