Supporting an IT trainer, you will help to train blind and partially sighted people to use a range of IT equipment and specialist software. Training will be delivered at Action for Blind People centres in Stoke-on-Trent and in Stafford, as well as at people's homes.

An Enhanced CRB check will be required for this role.

What will I be doing?

  • Supporting the IT trainer with a range of tasks

  • Providing IT tuition and demonstrating software to people with visual impairments on a one-to-one basis
  • Liaising with internal and external staff to ensure users have access to the IT services they require

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Good range of IT skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge of software and technologies designed for use by blind and partially sighted people
  • An enthusiasm for providing support and education to people on a range of IT matters
  • Ability to explain software and technology in a clear and patient manner
  • A friendly and approachable character
  • Willingness to travel locally to visit blind and partially sighted people in their homes

When will I be needed?

This will vary depending on current demand and volunteer's availability.

Location

Support is offered to people at their homes in Stoke and around Staffordshire. Any support given in our offices will be done either in Stoke or Stafford. The addresses of these centres are below:
