Action for Blind People's Stafford office needs enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help with everything from administration to in-house events. Your help and customer service skills may also be required to welcome visitors to reception and show them around the Resource Centre.

This role does not require a DBS check.

What will I be doing?

  • Offering administrative help to centre staff, including tasks such as photocopying and faxing

  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Helping with customer enquiries both in person and over the telephone
  • Showing customers products in the Resource Centre and shop,
  • Processing sales using a till
  • Attending and supporting events for blind and visually impaired people held within the office building
  • Other office duties as required

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • An awareness of the needs of blind and partially sighted people
  • Knowledge of the use of office equipment and/or cash tills desirable
  • A friendly and polite manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team

When will I be needed?

Flexible during office hours, at a regular time to be agreed between yourself and the volunteer manager.

  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/ co-ordinator
