To offer practical support to the Health and Well-Being Coordinator. Supporting the coordinator with the administration and delivery of a programme of workshops for blind and partially sighted people. The workshops will take place in community venues across Leeds.

Due to the nature of this role, an enhanced CRB check will be required.

What will I be doing?

Regular tasks are included, but are not limited to;

Workshop Support:

  • Supporting and advising the group members on paperwork and forms
  • Room set-up
  • Taking the register, signing group members into the venue
  • Guiding group members around the venue
  • Serving refreshments
  • After completion of a full training programme, occasional cover for the Health and Well-Being Coordinator

General Administration:

  • Updating the register
  • Reordering leaflets and other promotional material
  • Mailing out flyers and information
  • Handling personal details of clients and confidential information
  • Liaising with the LVC Team Administrator and other team members

Roles will be responsive to the individual needs of the service users and will be reviewed as the service develops.

  • Good communication skills and experience of dealing with the public and/or blind and partially sighted people
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also on own initiative when required
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and plan agreed activities
  • Willingness to undertake any training required
  • To be friendly and approachable
  • Flexible and responsive to individual needs
  • To be empathetic and understanding
  • Able to exercise patience and discretion
  • To be willing to make a regular commitment to volunteering

When will I be needed?

The volunteer will be required to attend the full 10 week programme 1 morning per week (10am -1pm)

Location

5th Floor, Fairfax House, Merrion Street, Leeds LS2 8JU and various community venues around Leeds.

  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from LVC Volunteer Development Coordinator and Health and Well-being Coordinator
