Do you enjoy being part of your local community, knowing what's going on in your area and getting out and about to meet people?

We need volunteers who enjoy being in the thick of things. Can you help us as we raise funds to support blind and partially sighted people in your area and throughout the UK.

This role does not require a DBS check

What will I be doing?

This role will require you, one day per week, to visit local shops, churches, community centres and libraries or other outlets where we would be permitted to display posters and leaflets. You will visit these places regularly to ensure that RNIB materials are on display, are neat, tidy, and up to date and in a prominent position. Eventually you will build up a relationship will the shop/centre managers enhancing our public awareness in the area.

You will also help us by checking the local newspapers to watch for local organisations that are involved in charitable giving and pass this information on to your Community Fundraising Executive who will take the lead further with a view to writing to the organisation for support for RNIB.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • You should be some one who can communicate effectively with people from all walks of life.

  • Be self driven and motivated to support us.
  • Be able to organise and plan a cost effective route around your local area.
  • Have access to telephone, e-mail and internet services.

When will I be needed?

We ask that you commit to supporting us at least one day per week. You chose the day most suitable for you. We ask that you stick to the same day every week although we understand that from time to time you may need to change the day.

Where will I be volunteering?

You will be mainly home based but will require to attend an RNIB office for training and for meetings with other volunteers in the same role.

What support will I be given?

  • Induction and Introduction to RNIB training
  • Training on the requirements and expectations for the role.
  • Supervision and support from your Community Fundraising Executive
  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
