You will check digitally transcribed recordings against the original print document for quality. This can be done at the fully equipped RNIB NI Accessible Media Production Suite (AMPS) in Belfast, or from home, with a variety of texts that blind, partially sighted and / or disabled people can then access. Full training is provided.
What will I be doing?

Listen to digital recordings (audio or "DAISY" talking book format) using CDs or a PC, noting appropriate corrections and/or amending recording as appropriate

Check for wording accuracy and correct audio track split marker locations or DAISY recording structure, as instructed by the staff at the Transcription Centre

To attend volunteer meetings and training as necessary

If interested, to be offered the opportunity to learn about and participate in any of the Centre's other tasks as appropriate

What qualities do I need?
You should have good hearing, be able follow instructions and good attention to detail.
When will I be needed?
At least 1-2 hours a week. The centre is open Mon - Fri 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Times are negotiable and there is occasional evening or weekend opening.
Training time will vary according to previous experience. Usually training is completed within 5 sessions.
