Be part of a busy enthusiastic team making accessible formats for blind and partially sighted people. This will involve typing, editing, proof reading, binding and using a PC.

What will I be doing?

  • To input data as instructed by Transcription staff
  • If editing or proof reading, to ensure the text produced is suitable for its purpose.
  • Binding of produced materials
  • If interested, to be offered the opportunity to learn about and participate in any of the team's other tasks as appropriate

What skills can I bring to this role?

  • A familiarity with windows based packages.
  • Able to type competently, accurately and at reasonable speed, or to edit previously scanned material
  • Able to follow instructions as to the presentation of material
  • Able to work within RNIB's equal opportunities policy and will promote a positive view of visually impaired people
  • Ensure that any information you record remains confidential
  • No specific qualifications, but sound knowledge of Windows based PC programmes would be an advantage if checking using a computer

What qualities do I need?

You should be consciencious with an ability to pay attention to detail.

When will I be needed?

At least three hours a week. The team works five days a week from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Volunteers timings are negotiable. Training time will vary according to previous experience
