Be our ambassador! Make a difference in your local community by talking to a variety of audiences. By raising awareness of our services and products you are helping us rebuild the lives of blind and partially people.

Did you know that our public speakers have reached over 8,000 people in the South West region who have gone on to donate or volunteer with us. Imagine how many people we could reach if you joined our team.

This role is NOT subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme

What will I be doing?

  • Research, create interest amongst local groups and arrange talk bookings
  • Talking to community and activity groups within the community to generate awareness of our work and to secure support
  • Building relationships with supporters, and attending local events
  • Build up a profile of useful contacts
  • Support and promote our campaigns

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Good communication skills
  • Presentation skills and ability to vary style to suit different audiences
  • Confident in engaging and captivating your audience
  • Good organisational skills
  • Use own initiative and feel happy to work on your own whilst knowing you are part of a team
  • Willingness to undertake training

When will I be needed?

Flexible, a minimum of a half day each week, and evenings will be necessary

Location

Areas local to you however a willingness to travel on occasions would be helpful

What support will I be given?

  • Induction
  • Understanding Sight Loss Pack
  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Three days of training specific to the role
  • Supervision and support from your Community Fundraising Executive (CFE)

Additional Information

If you are successful with this application, you will be asked to produce the following documentation:

  • A recent passport sized photograph of you. This will be used on your RNIB ID card. We are more than happy to reimburse you for the expense of the photograph processing and this can be done on your first expense claim form.
  • You will also need to include some form of identification to prove you are the person in the photograph. The different types of documents you can send in as evidence are as follows:
  1. Passport
  2. Photo Driving Licence
  3. EU Photo Identity Card/Travel pass or any other photo identity card.

* Photocopies of any of the above will be acceptable.
If you do not have any photographic identification, please still forward your photograph to us and we will ask your volunteer manager to confirm your identity if you become successful in the role you have applied for.
