RNIB Scotland's Pathway Services supports adults who have a learning disability and sight loss. Volunteer minibus drivers are needed to transport our service users to various appointments, activities and services within Fife. To comply with our insurance requirements you must hold category D1 on your licence, be at least 25 years old, and have a minimum of 2 years driving experience.

This role is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme.

What will I be doing?

  • Working with an escort, collecting clients from their home and taking them to and from various locations within the region.
  • Assisting clients in and out of the vehicle safely.
  • Completing basic vehicle checks.
  • Reporting any incidents.
  • Logging mileage and completing expense forms regularly.
  • Sighted guide provision when required.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Ability to use initiative and happy to work alone.
  • Be able to help/escort clients from home to vehicle.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Patience and a friendly manner.

When will I be needed?

Clients access a wide variety of daytime and evening activities therefore the shift times vary from 2-4 hours. Weekends are optional.

Location

We are based at Fife Sensory Impairment Centre, Wilson Avenue, Kirkcaldy, but you would be collecting clients from their homes in and around the Fife region and taking them to a specific location. Distance will depend on the areas in which you are willing to travel.

  • Access to specialist Visual Impairment and Learning Disability induction training including Midas training.
  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/ co-ordinator
