With over 450 people expected to attend the Vision UK 2012 conference, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist our blind and partially sighted delegates.
This volunteering opportunity does NOT require a CRB check.
A VISION 2020 UK annual conference, hosted by RNIB, the event will celebrate progress in implementing the UK Vision Strategy. This year's conference has the focus on 'Improving outcomes, increasing value', with key topics to include preventable sight loss as a public health priority, improving community eye care and sight services and the launch of 'seeing it my way - a quality and outcomes framework for blind and partially sighted people'.
Volunteering opportunities:
Sighted guides

Guiding blind or partially sighted delegates around the conference centre

Guiding blind or partially sighted delegates from and to the local bus or tube station

Helping delegates with refreshments
Please note: Previous training about how to guide blind and partially sighted people is required for this role.
Signposting
-
Directing delegates to all conference facilities, for example breakout rooms, lifts, and refreshments

Monitoring the lifts and stairs to direct delegates as required
Registration assistance

Assisting staff with the registration process, if required, providing delegates with their conference packs and other related information.

Room monitors and roving mics

Providing assistance with room set up

Assisting with the roving microphones in the plenary or seminar rooms

Greeting delegates at their seminar room and collecting the session tickets
