Eye Health and Products Promotion Volunteer

Are you reliable and friendly with good communication skills? Can you help us reach people living in sheltered accommodation by attending coffee mornings to talk about the importance of eye health care, RNIB services and everyday products that promote independence and safety for an older person living with sight loss?

This role does not require a DBS Check.

What will I be doing?

Attending coffee mornings to have an informal chat to the older tenants of the scheme.

  • Sharing information on a sample of the everyday living products from the RNIB catalogue.
  • Sharing information about the RNIB services.
  • Passing on the details of local eye health services available to the sheltered scheme.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • Good communication skills

  • Friendly confident and understanding
  • Enthusiastic and reliable and good level of patience
  • Happy to work on your own whilst knowing you are part of a team

When will I be needed?

Approximately two to four hours a week during office hours Monday to Friday

Where will I be volunteering?

Areas local to you with a willingness to travel with product items is essential. Talks are given in the communal lounge area of sheltered scheme Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr and Cardiff and the Vale.

  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/ co-ordinator
  • Product training as well as information on eye health and RNIB Services.
  • Opportunity to attend events held by RNIB Cymru
