IT Job Search Support Volunteer

Do you have the knowledge and expertise in IT to lead and guide blind and partially sighted people through clear computer instructions? We need you to provide IT support to blind and partially sighted people seeking employment.

This role does not require a DBS Check.

What will I be doing?

  • Working one to one with blind and partially sighted people.

  • Helping with online job searches
  • Assisting blind and partially sighted people creating CV's and completing online applications.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • A reliable and flexible individual, able to give instruction and to relate to a wide range of people in an empathic and patient manner.

  • Computer literate and an understanding of Access Technology
  • Clear and sensitive communication skills
  • Good organisational skills

When will I be needed?

Two to three hours on Wednesday afternoons.

Where will I be volunteering?

Enterprise Centre, City Road Cardiff

What will I gain from the role?

  • Learn new skills and gain experience interacting with visually impaired people
  • A sense of satisfaction helping visually impaired people

What support will I be given?

  • Induction

  • Understanding Sight Loss Pack
  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from the employment adviser.
