Low Vision Support Group Volunteer

Are you outgoing and confident with the ability to develop relationships with Low Vision Practitioners either face to face or telephone contact. Can you make a difference to blind and partially sighted people by providing support, information and advice to members of our low vision support group.

This role does not require a DBS Check.

What will I be doing?

• Providing low vision practitioners and support group members with information about RNIB Group and the services it provides to blind and partially sighted people.

• Familiarise yourself with local practitioners, services and opportunities.
• Commit to attendance of low vision support group meetings.
• Listen attentively to customers and promote and signpost other services as appropriately.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

• Friendly and caring nature

• Good communication skills
• A general awareness of local services for blind and partially sighted people and the ability and willingness to research other local and national services.

When will I be needed?

This role is flexible. Days and hours to suit, but with a regular commitment to attend monthly Support Group Meetings

Where will I be volunteering?

CVV Resource Centre, Ffordd Tregof, Swansea vale and venues of support group meetings.

• Induction
• Understanding Sight Loss Pack
• Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
• Low vision therapy training and use of functional vision.
• Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/ co-ordinator
