Are you aged 11 - 25 with excellent social skills, a sense of fun, willingness to join in local recreational activities/outings and befriend young blind and partially sighted people in their home.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

What will I be doing?

  • To interact and support young people (aged 11 - 25) in a range of social and recreational activities

  • Befriend young people in their home, sharing and supporting their interests, i.e. music, make up, magazines, games, football, etc
  • Accompany young people on outings

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

  • You will need to be friendly, helpful, reliable and understanding

  • A sense of fun and the willingness to join in activities
  • Ability to encourage and motivate young people to participate in activities

When will I be needed?

Flexible - Days and hours to suit

Where will I be volunteering?

Activities taking place around Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

What will I gain from the role?

  • An understanding of the needs of young people with sight loss

  • Opportunity to make new friends
  • A sense of satisfaction at being able to support young people to learn new skills

What support will I be given?

  • Induction
  • Understanding Sight Loss Pack
  • Expenses - all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including expenses to attend training
  • Supervision and support from your volunteer manager/ co-ordinator
