Speak up for Blind and Partially Sighted People

Get the facts, gain the skills and take action!

From the deep cuts in local authority spending to sweeping changes to Disability Living Allowance and Employment Support Allowance, recent Government announcements have the potential to impact negatively upon every aspect of the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

You can play a powerful role in helping to protect the independence and benefits of blind and partially sighted people, but the time to act is now.

You are invited to join RNIB's campaigns team at a venue in your region to find out how you can best influence major decisions being taken at the local and national level. You need no previous campaign experience to attend and will have the opportunity to:

  • Get up to date briefings from RNIB's parliamentary and campaigns team on changes to DLA, the Welfare Reform Bill and Employment Support Allowance.
  • Find out what the decision-making process is in your local council and how you can challenge your council on the fairness and accessibility of their consultations and cuts agendas.
  • Join other concerned individuals in a supportive environment to gain the information, practice and confidence you need to speak up for blind and partially sighted people.

There has never been a better time to get involved. The events will be running from 10am until 3:30pm during January 2011:
