Meet our volunteers

People volunteer for many different reasons. If you volunteer with RNIB you will be helping to improve the lives of people with sight problems. You will have the opportunity to put your talents to good use, learn new skills and experience to add to your CV. Volunteering can also help you to gain confidence, make new friends and develop new interests.

A wide range of people from many different backgrounds volunteer for RNIB. We have volunteers who are in education, working, unemployed, retired, old and young and from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for everyone who wants to volunteer with us.

""Meet Roy

Talking Book Service volunteer Roy Jackson recently celebrated 60 years as a volunteer with RNIB. To celebrate this incredible achievement we interviewed him about his exploits over the years. Read about what inspired Roy to volunteer, what he gets out of it, and the interesting experiences he has had over the years.

''''Meet Michael

Michael is a Community Helper at Redhill Community Living Service. Initially he was asked to demonstrate his bagpipe playing to a small group but after several participants expressed an interest in learning he is now teaching them his techniques. We interview Michael to find out more about his unique role with RNIB.
