Why sign up for Trek Iceland?

This challenge is designed to push boundaries and change perceptions. We want to raise vital funds for RNIB whilst promoting independence and inclusion through accessible events.

This is the second year for RNIB Trek Iceland. In 2016 our pioneering group of trekkers covered 37 kilometres in three days. A third of our team had differing levels of sight loss, and we completed the challenge with an incredible team spirit, motivating and supporting each other every step of the way. Team Iceland 2016 blazed a trail for those who take on Iceland in 2017. Sign up today and we guarantee a life-changing experience!

What to expect on the trek

A five day trip with three days trekking the Shores of Pingvallavatn, the Sauoardalur Valley and the Valley of Solfataras (with its famous hot springs); two nights staying in traditional mountain cabins with delicious home-cooked food and a chance to spot the famous Northern Lights, and one night in Reykjavik with a traditional Icelandic dinner to celebrate your incredible achievement, and the chance to visit the famous Blue Lagoon.

If you would like an audio CD or Braille version of the brochure, please contact the events team on or call 0345 345 0054.

Sighted guides

We actively encourage everyone to sign up. If you require a sighted guide, there are a number of options available. Please email the events team on to discuss options.

What our 2016 trekkers had to say?

“I realised it doesn’t matter what age or what disabilities you have, anything is possible if you put your mind to it.” Jo, Team Iceland 2016

“I have made so many new friends and we regularly keep in touch. In addition, my confidence has increased greatly – if I can trek across Iceland then I can do anything!” Ken, Team Iceland 2016

“Literally the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. I loved how we were one big family, by the end everybody spoke to everyone, helped and supported each other. This trip changes lives and has changed mine!” Helen, Team Iceland 2016
