An RNIB college is celebrating after scooping a top award.

RNIB College Loughborough has been awarded Gold for the Fair Train Work Experience Quality Standard. This is a nationally accredited framework recognising organisations who deliver comprehensive work experience programmes.

Beth Gardner, Fair Train CEO said: "Congratulations to RNIB College Loughborough for achieving the Work Experience Quality standard at gold level. It's very rare that an organisation will reach gold straight away, which shows how much the college values high quality work experience.

“Colleges like RNIB are leading the way in terms of supporting their students to increase their confidence and experience the world of work, whilst at the same time gaining vital skills which employers value.”

This year, 65 students have undertaken work placements with 56 different employers. The college has 106 different opportunities on its database, which helps to ensure it provides the most suitable work placement for each student.

College Principal, June Murray said: “We know that a personalised and well-planned work experience can make a massive contribution to our student's independence, confidence, skills development and self-esteem. We are very pleased to see this formally recognised.”
